On February 1, 2012, we proudly assumed sole proprietorship
of St.Thomas Raceway Park from previous owners John and Sharon Fletcher.
Many of you have come to know us
over the past two years – and there’s many more of you we look forward to
personally welcoming to the park – but our message is simple. We’re over
ecstatic to be running the park in 2012 as our own – and we can’t wait to
share all the cool stuff that we’re planning, with you.
So here they
are – and other than #1 – they’re in no particular order --- as they all
add to the excitement that is and will continue to create the glory of a
story that is St.Thomas Raceway Park.
TOP 50 REASONS YOU SHOULD VISIT
ST.THOMAS RACEWAY PARK IN 2012
1. It’s our 50th BIRTHDAY!!! That’s right – this season we will
celebrate our BIG 5-0.
2. We will once again run under the rules and
regulations of an N.H.R.A. Division 3 racetrack.
3. St.Thomas Raceway
Park is tentatively set to open Saturday April, 7, 2012 weather permitting
4. Our 50th DRIVERS MEETING ON SUNDAY MARCH 4 2012 had a great turnout.
5. All day-to-day business operation and decisions will be handled exclusively
by Jay and his family.
6. Because of the strong support of the staff,
volunteers, racers and sponsors, operating the track IS STILL possible.
Only with this continued dedication will the track continue to survive.
7. Cool new stuff is coming this year – including:

They now have been ripped up and the new concrete has been poured.
Rewiring of the timing system
10. The 2 New VIP Suites located in the
tower are being renovated...new drywall is hung and floors are laid!
11. Steak & Chicken BBQ Saturday nights will start in July & August. Will
also incorporate these dinners in with larger events.
12. Chassis Inspection
will be held on Saturday, April 28th, 2012

St. Thomas Hosts Latest Can-Am Rounds
past weekend marked our return to St Thomas Dragway and the roots of our

In short order, the track hooked like the old days and we were ready to

bested Bob Park's GT/EA Camaro for the win.

featured 8 car shoot-out race of the 8 best reaction time qualifiers. This
race was in honour of Tim Thorne and was sponsored by Tilburg Racing Engines
and Rob Carpenter and Kim Ferrie.
After three quick rounds, Jamie Wildgoose
won over Rob Becker.
A joint TNT / Can-Am barbeque followed the races
and even the rain didn't dampen the social times.
greeted us with a light shower, but John Fletcher and the track crew worked
hard and quickly dried the track so we could race our second race.
5 rounds, Victoria Smith's GT/AA 2005 Sunfire was victorious over Tony Valerio's
'68 crate motored Camaro.
The joint TNT / Can-Am race was an unqualified
success judging by the many comments of both the racers and St Thomas Dragway
Thanks to the Fletchers for inviting us back to race. And "hats
off" to the staff , who did a great job both with the track condition and
running the races. We look foreward to returning to race at St Thomas Dragway.
The Labour Day Nationals, our next two points races, is fast approaching.
As in the past, a barbeque, special draws and awards will be included. Details
has announced that three tracks have joined the North Central Division member
track roster including Byron Dragway and Central Illinois Dragway in Illinois
and St. Thomas Raceway Park in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada.

St Thomas Dragway To Reopen

There is no need to tell everyone about the tough economic times we
are still in these days. Simply open a newspaper or turn on your six o’clock
news and it may not take long to hear a story about another place that is
closing or that is laying off a significant number of their workforce. The
racing world is not immune to those kinds of things either. If you’re a
fan of this sport with a little research you can find out how this has hurt
many of the small market areas where tracks have been forced to close up
shop, leaving the racers without a safe controlled environment to do what
they enjoy, drag race. However this is not a doom and gloom article this
is, in my opinion, the exact opposite.
One of the longest
running drag tracks in Ontario is making a comeback. John and Sharon Fletcher
have taken control of St. Thomas Dragway just outside of London, Ontario
in the small town of Sparta.
